Years ago, individual teeth were replaced with individual implants. That’s right. If you needed to replace a full set of teeth, that meant 10-14 screws in each jaw. But thanks to the ever-evolving advancements in technology, the latest options we offer require as few as four strategically placed implants per jaw. Ultimately, the best technique for you will depend on your bone anatomy and the amount of available bone in your jaw, and that’s where we come in. Here are your options:
The Fixed System
This technique involves a minimum of four implants which allows the teeth to be fixed—screwed directly into connectors that are attached to implants which are placed under the gums. You benefit: Your dentist can easily and comfortably remove the replacement teeth for cleaning and maintenance to ensure no infection or hassle.
The Removable System
Our removable system is an excellent option for those who don’t qualify for the fixed system. It requires a metallic frame with connectors that attach to the implants. Fastened to the frame is a full-mouth dental bridge. Your doctor will guide you in manually removing the bridge until you’re comfortable with the process on your own. Your benefit: this system offers extremely good stability.
The Locator Overdenture
As the most popular and affordable system for full mouth dental bridge rehabilitations, the locator overdenture contains a set of connections on the implants that attach to the connections in the denture/bridge. Ideally, Dr. Valiente would use four dental implants in the upper jaw and a minimum of two in the lower. Your benefit: Patients can take these out and put them back in quite easily.
The bottom-line is that you have options. And the options do not involve over 20 implants. So, no matter your situation, rest assured that the latest and greatest full mouth dental implants alternative is waiting for you. All you’ve got to do is sit down with your doctor and find out which would be the best fit.
